Be Smart and find out Cheap Ways to fly Business Class

There are definitely some ways to fly business class without shelling out a lot of money for it.  Many of the business class travelers are not millionaires; they are just frequent travelers and smart fliers.  You can actually occupy a business class seat without having to spend a fortune, and let us check out some methods used by people to achieve this status.

First of all you must try and take an elite membership and become an elite flier.  If you are one, you generally get a complimentary upgrade to the business class.  In some airlines elites are upgraded in every flight, when business class seats are unsold.  But to attain the elite status most airlines need you to fly 25,000 miles in one year.  Generally, an average leisure traveler does not cover it.  But if you are keen to attain the elite status, try and always fly one airline so that you can collect enough miles.

However, there are some tricks to attain this status without flying all those miles.  Airlines offer this elite status at some points of time, and you must be able to take advantage of that promotion, so be on the look-out for them. 

There are two ways to get your frequent flier miles to put you into business class. Firstly, you can get enough miles for a free business class flight, if you fly 40,000 to 60,000 miles on domestic flights. The second option would be to use your miles to upgrade your seat.

You can still upgrade to a business class seat by paying less, even if you don’t have the miles or the status.  Standby upgrades are offered by many airlines, which can be done on the day before or the day of the flight.  The cost difference is often affordable, but still check before you finalize the seat.

It is possible to buy full-fare economy tickets and get upgraded to business class.  These tickets are definitely more expensive than the deeply discounted economy and sale fares.  But it is worth its while, because they are a good deal cheaper than first-class tickets, and it is then useful for travelers who want to travel business class but at a lower cost.

If you are determined to travel business class, the last resort for you would be to buy a business class ticket, but a cheap one.  Some airlines have cheap upper class tickets, so choose an airline which makes such offers. 

And as a last try, you can always ask at the gate.  Sometimes there may be business class seats available after all the regular business class ticket holders and all the pre-paid and award mile upgrades have got their seats.  You may just be lucky, because it does not hurt to ask. Be pleasant about it, and you might just get the free upgrade, or maybe pay a little extra, but it is still worth asking.

There are a few budget airlines which offer a business-class like flying experience in spite of the low fares.  Ask around and check what perks the budget airline offers, and you might get the business-class experience with one of them.

Finding Cheapest Airfares on Reliable Websites

It is very easy to find cheap airfares today.  There are several offers not only from the airlines but also from several travel agencies.  Nowadays people make leisure flying trips all the time.  From the comfort of your home, you can book the cheapest tickets, book your seat and even make last-minute changes to your itinerary.

But, in order to get the cheapest airfare, there are certain tips that may help you to achieve your target.  First of all you should be flexible with your travel dates. Sometimes, if you are determined to travel on a specific date, you may land up paying more. If you can manage to leave a day earlier or later, you can often get a cheaper fare. You can actually use a fare watcher if you are very flexible and don’t need to book immediately.  You could even sign up to get the airline’s weekly email of discounted fares for unsold flights.

If you book more than two weeks ahead, you can get the cheapest airfare.  If it is an international flight, you should book at least 30 days in advance, and then you can save a lot. Earlier, if you stayed over a Saturday night, you got a cheaper offer.  But that is not necessary any more. A flight for Sunday or for any other day is not always cheaper now.

Of course if you fly in the middle of the week, it is a cheaper fare.  Weekend flights are always more expensive, because most people can fly at that time. Sometimes a flight into a neighboring airport gets you a cheaper airfare.  It is quite easy to get trains from these airports into your town.  The websites of Travelocity and Orbitz can make an automatic search for neighboring airports for you.

If you are flying one-way, just check the round-trip price.  Sometimes one-ways cost more than the round trip.  You can really get cheaper airfares for international flights and save a lot. Try and avoid flying on holiday dates.  That is when most of the people are flying, and those dates turn out to have the most expensive fares.

Using the multi-city search provided by both Travelocity and Orbitz, you can book multi-city trips.  Another tip, if you want to go to Europe from the U.S., fly to London first and then to the Continent, it works out cheaper. In any case use the airfare search sites which are tailored to your situation.  Check out more than one site, because one site does not always give the best fare.

There is of course no magic formula to find the cheapest fares, but you must always compare prices amongst the websites, which is not such a great effort.  Once you know when you want to travel, just look around for the tickets and the earlier, the better.  It naturally depends on your leave and the festivities that you have to attend and cannot miss.

But, as a rule flying on a holiday is a pleasure because the planes and airports are less crowded, everyone is more relaxed and traveling can be a relaxing experience.

The World’s Most Dangerous Countries to Travel to

Some countries are more unfortunate than others to be hit by natural disasters, by terrorists or by nuclear warfare.  Such countries have now become dangerous places to visit, because of the fear of being killed, to find oneself in the midst of a social upheaval or a natural calamity like the tsunami.  There are dangerous diseases like the avian flu and the black plague, there are dangerous human beings like Attila the Hun and Osama bin Laden and there are natural dangers to human beings from the tsunami and Mount Vesuvius.

Today’s most dangerous countries to travel would be those where there is bloodshed and terror.  Iraq is a frightening example, and countries like Afghanistan and Zimbabwe are being destroyed by terrorism, oppression, poverty and death.  Since death is a common factor in such countries, there are no rules of law and education holds no importance.

Haiti has become a dangerous place to visit; there are continuous demonstrations and confrontations between armed groups.  Looting is rampant and there is random violent crime with kidnapping, carjacking and assault.  Nigeria is equally prone to violent crimes.  There is a total lack of law and order and there is a constant tension between various religious communities and rival ethnic groups. Road travel is dangerous in Nigeria, as there are many road robberies.

In Saudi Arabia there has been a lot of terrorist activity.  Westerners have often been attacked here by gunmen and terrorist groups.  Indonesia is also unpopular for American tourists because of the violence and terrorist actions there against the Americans.  Besides, the tsunami hit the country extensively in 2004, and tourists have reduced there drastically.

Security threat in a country like Yemen is very high.  Terrorist activities are common and groups or extremist individuals may attack westerners.  Violence related to illegal drug trade is high in Colombia, and most of the violent activity there is by narcoterrorist groups.  Lebanon has been totally destroyed by warfare, there are landmines everywhere and it is risky to visit the country now.

The Central African Republic is governed by rebel forces.  Armed robberies along the roads are common, and it has become totally unsafe to travel freely.  In Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, the threat of violence is very high.  And in the Democratic Republic of Congo the ongoing military operations have somehow brought more violence into the country.  There are a large number of vehicle thefts, extra-judicial killings, rapes, kidnappings and ethnic tensions.

Pakistan has seen a lot of massacre in the past few months, so tourists are afraid of venturing there.  The political unrest and the various terrorist activities are making the survival of the Pakistanis difficult. Even Kyrgyzstan is untouched by tourists because of the political instability of the country. 

However, in all these countries the employees of multinational corporations and nongovernmental organizations are still going.  Of course they risk their lives if they visit one of the world’s most dangerous countries, but they do their research first and train themselves before they travel.

Planning an Amazon Adventure needs to be done in Advance

When you step out of your home and your comfort zone into something new, it could be an adventure.  If you are planning an Amazon Adventure, do your homework well.  If you don’t, you will have a big adventure nonetheless, but not the one you wanted to have.  Do a lot of reading in travel blogs for the best things to do, or for not so successful adventures. 

Start slowly, so before you plan a trek in the Amazon jungle, go for some local hikes. It is advisable to go with an adventure company, because then the risk is reduced.  But check out the details of the company like the safety record, insurance coverage and industry certifications.  Before you leave for your journey, make copies of all your valuable documents and exchange them with your travel companion.  This could be useful especially if your bags are misplaced.

If you are traveling with an adventure company, then all the bookings are done by them.  But otherwise, plan your itinerary and make all bookings in advance.  If you want to travel by boat or live in a tropical resort in the heart of the Amazon, you must book them earlier.  

A jungle trek through the Amazon is a chance of a lifetime to explore the Amazon.  For this you need some jungle survival training.  You can do it once you are in Manaus, the gateway to the Brazilian Amazon. Maybe a local bilingual guide and specialists from the Manaus Army can train you how to survive in the jungle. They teach you the essentials like finding edible fruits, potable water, building a shelter, crossing a creek by using a steel cable and any other tricks to find your way in the forest.

Plan all that you want to see and all that is of interest to you.  If you are interested in seeing the houses of  the Amazon’s native people, you could take motorized canoes and take a tour.

When you are planning, there are some basic factors which you should consider right in the beginning.  First of all, are you fit to take a hiking adventure to the Amazon?  Also, you must plan how long you can hike every day. Hiking is very strenuous, though it can be fun and exciting. Also, you should consider how much you want to pay, and how much you want to carry.

If you are going for a hiking trip to the Amazons, then your hiking equipment should be in top condition.  Once you have received clearance from your physician and sorted out your finances, the hiking gear should be considered seriously.  The accessories to be taken depend on the exact route of your hike and the amount of time you want to spend in the jungle. 

If you are a hiker, you already belong to a club or a group, so you should plan the Amazon adventure the same way you have taken other camping outings.  Hiking in the jungles of the Amazon will take a little more meticulous planning to make your adventure memorable forever.

Tourists enjoy the Top American Destinations

America is a country which can boast of immense natural beauty with its mountains, beaches, natural wonders and water sports.  At the same time the attractions of the big cities are breathtaking for the tourists.  There are art festivals, film studios and Disneyland created by man, all of which are worth a visit.

Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon and the Atlantic City are the favorite getaways for tourists in America.  These areas are full of beautiful hotels, attractions like amusement parts and boardwalks, and are ideal for family holidays.

The natural beauty of the geysers of Yellowstone Park and the mountains of Grand Canyon are a treat for the eyes of the tourist.  The Disney parks are good fun, and many people come to see them too. Las Vegas envisages the world of the gambler and fun lover. 

One of the favorite vacation spots in America is Hawaii which is the southernmost part of the US.  The whole city of Hawaii is surrounded by water.  Also, the Florida vacations spots need to be mentioned which include Miami, Orlando, etc. And then last but not least is California with Hollywood as its main attraction. Texas is also attractive for its natural landscapes just like Virginia.

But there are other destinations which have become popular in America.  The city of Denver, Colorado has become a new attraction, after getting an extension of the Denver Art Museum.  Recently it has also become popular for beer making and even has a Great American Beer Festival each fall. In Colorado the Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde national park, Southern Rocky Mountains, Mount Albert are the important vacation locations! New Orleans is another favorite for tourists, because of its special artistic character.  It is extremely affordable for tourists and a total fun place.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has one of the country’s most impressive cultural collections in the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.  The international arts fairs are also popular with the tourists and because of its 250 year history many events have been lined up for this year.

The American Whiskey Trail is a historical tour of America’s relationship with spirits through half a dozen historical spots across five states.  There are a dozen distilleries and the journey begins in Pennsylvania, through Tennessee, and then through the limestone rock and rolling blue grass hills of Kentucky. George Washington’s Mt. Vernon estate is also a part of the journey, showing the Colonial-era America.

New Jersey, though industrialized is still a tourist attraction due to the southern Jersey shore. There are charming boardwalk towns like Cape May, Ocean City and Wildwood.  The charm is still Victorian with the Sunset Beach and the beautiful bird sanctuary. 

And cities like New York and San Francisco have a charm of their own.  Everything about New York is complex and tourists love it and hate it at the same time.  They love the old world charm of San Francisco or the imperial grandeur of Washington DC. The big cities and the immense natural beauty have made America a tourist’s paradise.
